The ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) may not table the dual nationality bill in the Senate during its upcoming session starting on Wednesday, as the ruling coalition lacks two-third majority to get the controversial bill passed from the Upper House of the Parliament.

According to informed sources, the PPP was thinking to table the bill in the Senate during its upcoming session for passage; however, due to lack of the required numbers the bill may not be tabled. When Business Recorder asked Law Minister Farooq H Naek whether the bill will be tabled in the upcoming session of the Upper House, he did not come up with a clear answer, saying, "wait for the right time.' The bill is currently in the concerned standing committee of the Senate for consideration and the ruling PPP has not yet been able to take its own coalition partner, Awami National Party (ANP), onboard in this regard.
